I Want To Live (directed by Justinas Krisiūnas) – warm romantic drama about youth
2018 / 12 / 01I Want to Live (Original Lithuanian title Širdys), directed by Justinas Krisiūnas, is a romantic drama taking place in 1990s. This was the time of no mobile phones, e-mails, or social media, and there were no so many airplanes in the sky comparing to nowadays. Things will change soon crossing to the new millennium, and the young teens in this story are likely to see it, unless… They are all hospitalized for heart issues in a recovery sanatorium. Some of them have become usual attendants waiting for donors, while others like a newcomer Saulius (Motiejus Ivanauskas) tries to find his place both in life and in the sanatorium. Saulius meets Milda (Roberta Sirgedaitė) and their initial conflicting interaction slowly grows into love. Sadly, there is little time for this new beginning as Milda is fading out, and the two have to find their way in the grip of the post-Soviet hospital system. As Milda says “I don’t want to stay alive, I want to live...”.
