Phaos Music presents new Album 'POLYDORO'

2006 / 10 / 18

Phaos Musicannounces the presentation of its first album “Polydoro”. Established by two composers, Evangelos Papageorgiou (Greece) and Titas Petrikis (Lithuania), this album is a new gift for the fans of instrumental electronic music. Polydoro in Greek language means ‘many gifts’, but also it is a Greek village, where this music was originally composed. The compositions are rich of 20th century harmonies and Middle East style melodies. It varies from light ambient, Lounge music, to heavy rhythms of House and Disco. Phaos Music was formed when Evangelos and Titas decided to join their creativity to make the music of another dimension. The composers attempt to create music for the people who adore new explorations in dance and film music. Both Evangelos and Titas just finished their MAs in Composition for Films at Bournemouth Screen Academy. After working on several short films, the composers came up with an idea to do something new in current electronic dance music area.

Bournemouth Academy is a busy place for composers. This is why the guys decided to work elsewhere and planned their trip with all their studio equipment to Greece. This country was not chosen accidentally. Evangelous once mentioned that there is a special place in the North of Greece, his home village in the mountains, which gives a unique inspiration. It was not difficult to decide to go by car nearly three thousand kilometers from England to compose music for the new album. “We wanted something new, something detached from current fashion. At the same time we wanted to compose music which people would love to listen to. Greece is in a unique place to accomplish that. Its rich musical heritage influenced "Polydoro” says Evangelos.

Asked if they succeeded their goal, Titas smiles: “we did as much as planned, we have composed music for our album, and the first album is going to be just great. What is even more important, we know we will have better albums in the future too. We have nice plans to expand, we hope this is going to successfully happen”.

Phaos music has professional musicians and engineers on-board from Greece. The mastering of the album is done by experienced sound engineer George Markousis, who has mixed and mastered in his career several well-known Greek pop songs. George has utmost level studio equipment to improve the album. Being a musician himself, he has also a valuable input to overall sound quality and making final tweaks to the songs. Another important input comes from Kostas Poulis, who is a talented guitarist. Kostas adds another music layer using his unique guitar playing techniques. His music leads enrich "Polydoro" by enhancing electronic soundscape. Other people who also work together with Phaos Music are Vangelis Notopoulos (Bass player), Dmitris Asteriadis (guitarist), Theodoros Vangelinos (drummer) and Elina Baca (Vocalist). Vangelis Notopoulos besides playing bass is also a graphic designer (the author of Phaos Music Logo) and lyrics. Elina is a singer and makes vocal effects in several songs. Theodoros and Dmitris are planned to join the performances of Phaos music tours in the future.

Finally, after intensive work, the project kicked-off and will be presented to the audience for the first time. The opening concerts will take place in Vilnius and Kaunas (Lithuania). The performance will have exciting interaction with lights, sound and video installations (Phaos and chaos, mean in ancient Greek light and respectively chaos). The concert will be rich in music themes development supported by contemporary video material.

The show will take place in Tabero club (Vilnius) on 25th of October, and ViDUje University Art Center (Kaunas) 26th of October (please find more details about the concerts in live section of this web site).
