Shooting of 'The Body' by Saleh Nass

2006 / 03 / 20

March is one of the most intensive periods in the Bournemouth Media School (BMS). Most TV students work on various locations to shoot films while other spend hours in post-production facilities editing them.

Titas is also involved in several such projects with music composing and acting. One of them is Saleh Nass’ film The Body. In this film Titas is going to be not only music composer but also take a role of Franczisek, a Polish tourist in England. The Body is a dynamic comedy about several characters who think they killed the same guy. It is a hard time for police to find out what happened in reality.

Here below you can find the picture gallery of the shooting moments of the film. There are several comments by the Director Saleh Nass and film actors as well.

Detailed planning and professional crew

One of the key elements of the successful film making is planning. Although short films like The Body are only 10 minutes long, it takes hours to make the scenes work fine. Pre-production is one of the most important elements to ensure the stable work of the crew and accomplishment of required results of the shooting day.

Saleh Nass and the production team had to prepare for the film for weeks in advance, while the shooting itself took five entire days of intense work.

The Body is a comedian story about several characters who think that they killed the same guy. It takes quite some time for Police to find out that the poor guy died naturally because of the fish bone stuck in his throat. The Body is a dynamic story with vigorous characters, who originally tell their stories to Police. Check out film Director Saleh Nass' website for additional bonus material about the film.

The Film benefits of having experienced actors from London. The roles are performed by Darren Ethoven, Sonya Raymond, David Lee, David Molyneux and others. These actors did several films in their careers as well as have got some acting experience in theatre.

Darren Ethoven is a professional model and also is starting his acting career in films. He has already played in Saleh's last film Phone Call.

Another amazing character in The Body is Mrs. Hooper. She is a widow who runs a Bed and Breakfast hotel. Mrs. Hooper’s role is played by Sonya Raymond. Thanks to her theatrical experience, Sonya wonderfully filled the film with the charming presence of an ‘inquiring, noisy English lady’. She does not feel guilty that the guy dies in her hotel but rather blames everyone around, including Police for not doing their job.

The poor Body stays at Mrs. Hooper’s inn and dies mysteriously after eating her soup. She is surprised Body died of the fish bone rather than ingredients of the soup, because it looks far more than disgusting. Also, perhaps her cooking habits is the mysterious reason for why she was widowed…

Besides being a singer, Sonya has done professional acting in theatre. Her recent films include Explosions directed by Hammad Khan, Riot directed by Andrea Colomb, and The Curse of the Lonely Witch directed by Daniel Naldrett. Check Sonya’s website for more details about her.

David Lee is another charismatic character in The Body. He is playing the Police Constable Reggie who is investigating what happened to the dead guy. Moreover, PC Reggie has a constipation, which significantly complicates investigation. David perfectly embodies the solid Police chief role, giving the film another level of attraction.

The most important person in film production is its Director. Saleh Nass, originally from Bahrain, is a young talented director, finishing BMS in a few months. Besides being a film director, Saleh is an excellent photographer. He received a diploma in Art & Design and Photography A-Level from Salisbury College. The Body is his major film in his career so far.

Titas in acting

The Body is Titas’ second major film acting experience. Previously he had the terrorist group leader’s role in a Francis Annan film Interception. This film is completely different to The Body in terms of style. The Body required quite more efforts to bring a substantial weight to the Polish tourist’s role.

Currently Interception is in post-production phase and will appear on Portfolio section soon. ‘The Body required completely different skills what I had to perform forInterception’, says Titas. ‘It is a comedy, and you have to be both a funny and a real person at the same time, i.e. not exaggerated. I think I was lucky to hit the point, because we had a good time on location with a lot of laugh even while filming’. Indeed, all characters bring their own gravity to the film, making the story balanced. Currently The Body is in the post-production and should appear on-line in May. In addition to this role, Titas is planning to do the main role for Radhika Aligh’s drama. This film will be about a tired businessman coming back home from work. But something happens on his road and that totally changes his life. Watch out for the upcoming news soon!
